Collaboration Between the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Center Graduates

On May 16, Maia Tskitishvili, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure met with graduates of the International Education Center. The meeting was also attended by Mzia Giorgobiani, the minister’s deputy, Nikoloz Rosebashvili, director of the Department of Relations with Regional and Local Government Agencies, and Revaz Kakulia, director of the Department of Euro-integration and Reform Promotion.

Maia Tskitishvili and the ministry representatives told the graduates about the decentralization process and handing over additional functions to local governments.
“It is crucial to strengthen the regions for the rapid development of the country, thus it is necessary to identify the needs and define priorities on location. Work on intermediate and long-term views is also important, as today there is a deficit in this. Our task is to do such projects that will not be a burden for specific municipalities, but instead be a new possibility for helping with generating income on location. In line with this, the knowledge that you have received for various professions in foreign countries will be a tremendous asset”, Maia Tskitishvili told the beneficiaries.

The discussion was held as a dialogue. Ministry representatives and graduates exchanged ideas. An agreement was reached that the first project conducted jointly will be holding training sessions with various target groups and activating a teaching component at summer camps.

The graduates are planning to form an association in the near future. Their goal will be to make their own contributions in the regions for the development of youth politics and city planning as well as working on a single electronic platform for the local governments.

At the meeting held at the International Education Center, Maia Tskitishvili declared her complete support for the students and announced her consent regarding membership in the newly created association’s advisory council.
