The Embassy of Hungary hosted winners of the 2025-2026 “Stipendium Hungaricum” scholarship program

The event hosted by the embassy of Hungary was attended by Executive Director of LEPL -International Education Center (IEC) and other representatives of the IEC.

In the framework of state-to-state agreement between Georgia and Hungary, Georgian citizens are eligible to participate in “Stipendium Hungaricum” program since 2016. The program implementing parties are: the IEC – on behalf of Georgia, and the Tempus Public Foundation - on behalf of Hungary.

Partnership program envisages funding of Georgian citizens in a competition format, to study on Bachelor’s, Master’s, Integrated Master’s (OTM), PhD, quarterly exchange programs and certification courses (non-degree). Conversely, Georgian side ensures funding of short-term educational/research visits for Hungarian citizens.

During 2017-2024, approximately 400 Georgian citizens have been awarded with “Stipendium Hungaricum”.

In 2025-2026 academic years 46 Georgian citizen will continue studying at Hungarian high-educational institutions, within the frames of the program.

Starting from 2024, under the initiative of the International Education Center, within the framework of the "Stipendium Hungaricum" program, winning scholarship students who stand out for high academic achievement will have the opportunity, in addition to the Hungarian government scholarship, to receive additional state funding from Georgia. This funding will amount to 1,250 euros per semester and will be provided to cover living expenses in Hungary during the official duration of the program. Since 2024, a total of 35 scholarship recipients from Georgia have been granted state funding.
