The Winners of Three Grant Programs are Known

A summary press conference was held on July 4 at the International Education Center regarding the results of three foreign grant programs - for doctoral students, art studies, and for the qualification enhancement of public officials - for the 2018-19 academic year. The winners of these grant programs were announced by Nino Chelidze, the Center’s acting director. Entrants were addressed by a member of the commission, Maia Tsereteli and by a graduate of the Center, Davit Nadiradze.

This year, a fifth generation of students was selected by the International Education Center, who will be provided with the means of obtaining knowledge abroad through the financial help of the government and continue with the realization of this acquired knowledge in their home country after finishing the academic programs.

The goal of the grant programs is to increase the availability of study at foreign educational institutes for Georgian citizens. All three programs take into account study costs, as well as full or partial financial assistance for the necessary living costs.

The International Education Center was founded in 2014 and more than 500 study grants have been given to Georgian citizens desiring to study abroad during the years 2014-2017. The Center only had three grant programs in 2014 and since 2017 it has been implementing 9 programs. The number of programs and grant recipients will grow even more starting in 2018.

More than 500 Georgian citizens desiring to study abroad have registered in the competition just for the 2018-2019 academic year, with applications being submitted by 240 of them. Those interested in the programs were able to fill out an e-application on the Center’s website over the course of one month from April 25 to May 25, 2018.
